Okay, I'll explain it.

Calvanism originated from the followers of John Calvin, who lived several hundred years ago. This system was put together using his teachings after his death.

It has five major points that are somewhat easy to prove Biblically, although the opposite side (Armenianism) also has valid points.

The five points, which are easily remembered by the word "tulip" which represents the five points.

1. Total Depravity - Man is 100% totally and completely depraved before Salvation.
2. Unconditional Election - We are saved unconditionally.
3. Limited Atonement - Jesus died to save those who He knew He would save from before time began.
4. Irresistable Grace - When God chooses to save someone, that person cannot resist His Grace.
5. Perseverance of the Saints - Those who are Christians will be saved throughout all eternity, and will not "fall from grace" or become unsaved.

Here's more information on the subject if you're interested: http://www.graceonlinelibrary.org/articles/full.asp?ID=12%7C12%7C224

It's all just a "Can God make a stone He can't lift?" argument. I tend to lean towards Calvinistic beliefs more than others, but nonetheless, if Jesus told you to do something, you'd do it regardless of whether or not it accomplishes anything. So since He already gave the "great commission", it should be carried out even if you think it to be vanity.

Yeah, I would say #1 is the only one I agree with 100% so that would be a "NO."

Yep
U
I don't believe: Once you’re in the grace of God you can never leave it. I believe you can honestly be saved and later reject God, thus revoking your salvation (and yes I can back this up Biblically if you want me to)
I DO believe: If you do leave the grace of God, you can come back.
L
I don't believe: You have no choice in weather or not you accept God because He makes it for you.
I DO believe: God already knew who would make what choice.

See U as well.

So ya, depends on how you define the definition. Rolling Eyes

Quote :
I want you to.

K, but you said you don't beleive in the Bible so this probubly isn't gonna convince you of anything. tongue

Mathew 7
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

You could argue that they were never really saved in the first place, but look at the bolded part and the following passages.

Luke 11
14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.

15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.

19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

So Satan isn't going to cast out his own minions. How about other people?

Acts 19
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Ok, so it's obvious one would have to have devine authority to cast out demons...and yet...

"And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Then there's verses like:
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.... You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?-Galatians 5:4,7

If they were never one with Christ, how could they be severed from Christ? If they were never in the grace of God how could they have fallen from grace?

That's all I have off the top of my head. I'll happy to look up some more if you want.

Of course I want more; Sunday School 101 isn't going to do it for such a weighty issue.
More verses and more context.

Well I can post more verses but those are the hardest to argue with. Most of the others can be countered with arguments like the previously mentioned "they were never saved in the first place" argument and there's not a whole lot to counter it with, but these are easily the hardest to argue with. I can dig up some more though if you really want the easy ones.
